About Volotea Airlines

Volotea was founded by Barcelona-based Alaeo S., a company founded by former Vueling founders Carlos Muñoz and Lázaro Ros. The name "Volotea" comes from the Spanish verb "revolotear", which means "to fly". It began operating from Venice Marco Polo Airport on April 5, 2012.The company is backed by three private equity funds, two  from Europe (Axis Participaciones Empresariales and Corpfin Capital) and a third from the United States (CCMP Capital), whose President, Greg Brenneman, was  President and Chief Operating Officer of the American airline Continental Airlines and also heads the board of Volotea. The company raised more than 50 million euros before starting operations. US CCMP Capital Partners owns 49% of the voting rights; Axis and Corpfin Capital 25%; and Muñoz y Ros 26% along with  with relatives: This ownership has existed since inception but  could change with an IPO before 2021-2022.

You must arrive at the airport early enough to check in your luggage, clear security, and arrive at the boarding gate according to the timetables provided at each airport.Check-in DeskThe check-in desk is open 2 hours (2 hours and 30 minutes in Nantes) before  departure  and closes 35 minutes before departure. At all Italian and Greek airports, check-in desks close 40 minutes before departure. At all airports in Morocco and Algeria, the check-in counter   opens 3 hours before  departure and closes 60 minutes before  departure.

Baggage policy and Fees

Each passenger can take 1 handbag and 1 piece of hand luggage with them completely free of charge. Remember that  you can only take your cabin suitcase (50 x 40 x 20 cm) on board if you have priority boarding. Otherwise you must consult it free of charge. Remember that checking in your hand luggage at the boarding gate costs €50  per item per way. 10kg MAX.= carry-on + small carry-on Make sure your combination of carry-on and carry-on does not exceed 10 kg. In this case you will have to pay a surcharge of €60 per piece per way.

Pet policy

Small dogs and cats from the age of 8 weeks are allowed as pets. Other animals are not allowed. Make sure your pet, cage and accessories together do not weigh more than 10kg. Otherwise your pet is not  allowed on board. travel in an approved non-rigid bag or box.You must take the necessary documents for the transport of your pet with you.

Refund and Cancellation Policy

Volotea tickets are non-refundable. Volotea accepts returns only  in cases of force majeure or due to company cancellations. However, you can change the passenger's name, as well as the date, time and destination of the flight  so  you don't lose your money.
