About Volaris Airlines
Volaris Airlines is a new El Salvadorian airline based in San Salvador, where the airline's hub is also based. The airline is a subsidiary of Mexican low-cost carrier volaris flight and joins the group as a sister airline, sharing links with the group's other airline Volaris Costa Rica.
The airline operates with its own Air Operators Certificate (AOC) for El Salvador and was awarded this in 2019 when the airline began operations. Volaris hopes that through the El Salvador subsidiary, it will allow the group to expand its destinations further than Mexico and Costa Rica and into other Central and South American markets.
Initially, the airline began services from San Salvador to San Pedro Sula in neighbouring Honduras as well as Cancun and Mexico City in Mexico. This allows passengers across the group to easily connect via each others hub airport onto more destinations.
Passengers on Volaris Airlines can connect via Volaris's hub in Mexico City onto a wide range of destinations. Additionally, Volaris Costa Rica already flies to San Salvador International 27 times a week as part of its normal schedule, connecting El Salvador with San Jose Juan Santamaria, Los Angeles International, Washington Dulles, Cancun, Guatemala City and JFK New York. The airline plans to offer more routes in 2022 with Los Angeles, New York and Washington DC in the pipework.
Volaris Airlines Classes
Like parent company Volaris, the El Salvadorian airline only offers an economy class product. All seats onboard their aircraft are laid out in a 3 x 3 configuration, with the first few rows and emergency exit seats being marked as premium with extra legroom, which can be reserved at a fee. The seats onboard Volaris Airlines has 18" (46 cm) of width and 28–32" (71 cm–81 cm) seat pitch. If you have selected the airline's Vuela Plus ticket then you will additionally receive speedy boarding.
As the airline operates as an Ultra-Low-Cost carrier (ULCC), they do not offer a business class product.
Destinations
Currently, Volaris Airlines operates to 4 destinations with El Salvador International Airport being the airline's hub airport. They have additionally filed an application with the US Department of Transport (DOT) to begin operating services to Washington DC (IAD), New York JFK and Los Angeles (LAX) in March 2022.
The airline has ambitious plans to sustainably grow its route map as it further establishes itself. Due to current Salvadorian regulations regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic, all volaris flight services have been suspended.
