About Sichuan Airlines
Sichuan Airlines is a Chinese airline that is headquartered in Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, Chengdu, Sichuan. It primarily operates domestic scheduled flights from and to Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport.
In 1988, the airline started operations between Chengdu (now Wanzhou). It was reorganized in August 2002 and the Sichuan Airlines Group (which is owned by the provincial government) became the largest shareholder (40%). China Southern Airlines, Shandong Airlines, and Shanghai Airlines are the other shareholders.
In June 2012, the first long-haul route overseas was opened with flights from Chengdu's Chengdu hub to Vancouver (Canada). The airline's second long-haul flight from Chengdu to Melbourne (Australia) was launched in February 2013. It offered three weekly services. The airline began a twice-weekly service between Chengdu and Los Angeles via Hangzhou on 17 October 2016.
