SATA International Airlines now forms part of Azores Airlines. Azores airlines is an Azorean airline, based in Ponta Delgada on the island Sao Miguel. The airline offers international and regional flights to North America and Europe. Azores airlines is a subsidiary to SATA Air Acores. Azore Airlines, a regional carrier, is based in the Azores archipelago, an island group in the middle the Atlantic Ocean. SATA International’s mission was to provide flights linking the Azores with other parts of the globe. The airline was founded in 1990 and connects the Azores with foreign destinations, offering flights to Europe and North America. The Provincial Government owns this well-established and well-run Portuguese airline.

Baggage policy and Fees

To reduce contact and movement in the cabin, we have set maximum cabin baggage weight limits. This was done to ensure passenger safety. You should limit your cabin baggage to the minimum essentials and volumes you are able to handle.

You can bring your carry-on baggage into the cabin of the aircraft provided it doesn't exceed the maximum weight. It is your responsibility to make sure you have all of your travel documents and any other important documents.

All carry-on baggage must be checked-in to ensure that it is properly labeled.

These items are not included in the carry-on allowance.

One blanket, one overcoat or coat;
One umbrella or cane;
A small-sized photograph, film camera, or pair of binoculars.
On the flight, you can read books and magazines in reasonable quantities.
Bag that can carry one laptop and one diplomat handbag.

A garment bag shouldn't weigh more than 4kg/8 Lbs

Pet policy

You can transport small pets in a container, bag, or waterproof bag (upto 8kg) which allows the animal to stand, rotate, and lie down.
SATA Air Acores flights have 55cm maximum container dimensions.
It is only allowed per passenger to transport an animal by container in the cabin and there are limits for acceptance/confirmation of transport, depending on the aircraft;
The doors should have a fully secured locking system.
To ensure proper air circulation, the container should be properly ventilated (at least 3 areas including the door).
Ventilation openings should be small enough to ensure that the animal is not in direct contact with the outside.
To be leak-proof (waste, urine and escape) and strong enough to withstand animal abuse, the container should be constructed of sturdy material.
Place absorbent material (newspapers blankets or paper towels) on the inside.
To avoid accidental escape, rodents should be transported in a rigid and sealed container.
