Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the national airline of Pakistan, operates both domestic and international flights . It has three main hubs in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad/Rawalpindi. The primary airport at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi (KHII) is its primary hub. It has codeshare agreement with China Southern Airlines and Thai Airways International.
Originally known as Orient Airways, PIA was established in October 1946. It was based in Calcutta, India. In 1947, operations were moved to Pakistan's newly independent state. In 1955, it became a national carrier of Pakistan. It merged with another airline to create PIA. It is well-known for being the first Asian airline to buy a jet plane by inducting a Boeing 7.707. The first Norwegian airline to land was the national carrier.

The Economy Class of the airline offers an affordable airfare. This gives you the freedom to choose which extras you want onboard.
PIA's basic fare allows passengers to recline in its original seating. The seat pitch measures 32 inches, and the seat width measures 17 inches.
The new Executive Economy class of the airline is now available anywhere in Pakistan, Manchester and Birmingham. The airline's new Executive Economy class will allow passengers to check more baggage and gain access to designated check-in counters.
Passengers will have the option to relax onboard with adjustable seating and extra leg room. Enjoy a gourmet meal and dining in style. The seat pitch measures 49 inches, and the seat width is 23 inches.
Those who travel from Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad can enjoy the exclusive porter service. They are available to assist you at PIA’s Business Plus check in counters. Business Class passengers will find a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere in any of the lounges. You can choose from a variety of snacks and entertainment services in a comfortable lounge that allows you to unwind before your flight.
PIA provides wheelchair/ambulifter facility to those old, aged, sick and disabled passengers who require special individual attention during ground handling at airports, on embarking/disembarking. These passengers must complete a Medical Information Form, (MEDIF).

Long-haul passengers will receive a complimentary meal prepared by the airline's highly trained staff. There are many international and Pakistani dishes on the in-flight menu. Mutton curry with almonds, raisins, and rice is a typical lunch or dinner option. PIA offers snacks like chicken kebabs and club sandwiches, as well as hot and cold beverages. All meals on board are Halal.

Check-in online for PIA passengers should be done via the Pakistan International Airlines website. After that, enter your PNR or booking reference as well as your surname. You can check in online up to six hours prior to your flight.
Passengers who wish to check in at the airport rather than online or on a route not yet accessible for online check-in must report at the airport checkin desks. PIA recommends that domestic passengers within Pakistan arrive at the airport two hours prior to flights. International flights require passengers to arrive at least 4 hours prior to their flight departure time. .
Passengers flying in Economy Class or Economy Plus are allowed to carry one piece of baggage on board the plane. The baggage should not exceed 7kg in weight and no larger than 115cm in length. It also shouldn't be more than 38cm long x 22cm wide x 55cm high. For business-class passengers, the baggage should not exceed 12kg. A small briefcase must not weigh more that 5kg.
Domestic flights allow one piece of baggage per passenger, not more than 20kg, and Business Plus allows two pieces per passenger, with a combined weight of no more that 30kg. Extra baggage will be charged per piece, not per kilogram. Additional pieces over 28 kg will be subject to a flat fee regardless of sector. Two pieces of 28kg each will be allowed for Economy Cabin, and 32kg for Business Cabin (For USA and Canada only)
PIA has increased their charges for excess baggage as of April 22, 2022.
