The airline was founded in 2002 and employs 194 people. In an effort to improve safety and services, the Nigerian government gave a 30 April 2007 deadline to all airlines in Nigeria to either re-capitalize or be grounded. The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority's criteria for re-capitalization were met by the airline and it was re-registered to continue operating.

Baggage Policy And Fees

Carry-on Baggage

Overland Airways may limit the dimensions and/or weight of unchecked baggage you can carry onboard an aircraft. If we haven't, any unchecked baggage you bring onto the aircraft must be placed under your seat or in an enclosed compartment within the aircraft's cabin. You must carry your unchecked baggage as checked baggage if it is not allowed to be stored in such a way, is too heavy, or is unsafe.

Checked Baggage

Some Baggage can be carried free of charge. The maximum weight allowed for checked baggage is 23kgs, unless otherwise stated on the ticket. Priority will always be given for the carriage of checked baggage within the applicable free baggage allowance.

Pet Policy

Overland Airways is aware that some passengers may need to bring their pet along with them. Please endeavor to inform us in advance of your plans to travel with your pet so that our Airline can confirm their transport or otherwise at least 24 hours in advance of your expected flight date to either your Travel Agent or through our call Centre or via our email address fly@overlandairways.com.

1.3 Rules Concerning Pet Carriage

If your pet is accepted for carriage, the following guidelines will govern their transportation:

1.3.1 Overland Airways will only accept pets as accompanied baggage.

1.3.2 Only animals such as dogs, cats, and rabbits are allowed to be carried as accompanied baggage on Overland Airways.

1.3.3 All flight bookings must be confirmed by Overland Airways no later than 24 hours before the intended flight time for which a pet will be transported.

1.3.4 The animal must be accepted once it is in its animal container. This is an impermeable bag that can hold the animal and allow the animal to stand, turn, or lie down naturally.

1.3.5 The animal container's floor must be covered with an absorbent material. This will protect the passengers' and aircraft baggage from animal waste contamination.

1.3.6 One pet is allowed per flight.

1.3.7 All dogs are required to wear a muzzle before they can be carried.

Refund And Cancellation Policy

Cancellation Policy

Overland Airways offers the ability to cancel your flight online with no hassles. Also, passengers can make a request for the refund online by filling the refund request form at Overland Airways official site http://www.overlandairways.com/. Only eligible Overland Airways flight tickets can be refunded if they are cancelled within the current time frame. Overland Airways will not issue a refund for tickets that have expired after their expiry date. Overland Airways may take up to 10 working days to process a refund request. Overland Airways will pay compensation for passengers who are forced to cancel their flights due to unavoidable circumstances. You can cancel your flight easily and receive a refund from Overland Airways.

Cancellation Fees

Overland Airways has also established a cancellation fee that applies to international and domestic flights. The following instructions will help you to learn more about the Overland Airways cancellation fee for international flights.

If ticket cancellations are made after the risk-free cancellation period of 24 hours, an Overland Airways cancellation fee will apply. You will be charged a $100-$400 cancellation fee if you cancel your Overland Airways flight less than 24 hours before the flight is due to depart. After cancelling your flight ticket, you can also file a cancellation request.
