About NOK Air

Nok Air was founded by Sky Asia Co., Ltd. in February 2004 and began operations on July 23, 2004. It employed 130 people in March 2007 and 1,400 people by the end of 2014. With daily flights to Bangalore, India, Nok Air launched its first international operation on May 31, 2007. However, these flights were discontinued in 2020. With 24 destinations, Nok Air offers the most domestic services within Thailand. Because Nok Air generally runs independently from Thai Airways, there has been considerable conflict between the two businesses. Thai Airways has attempted to buy the shares of other shareholders, most notably Krung Thai Bank, in order to exert more influence on Nok Air.

Thai Airways and Krung Thai Bank are both government-owned companies that are governed by the finance ministry, however Krung Thai Bank refused to sell Thai Airways its shares in Nok Air. The transaction would have increased Thai Airways' ownership of Nok Air from 39 to 49%. Thai Airways' dwindling interest in Nok Air was demonstrated in May 2017 when their investment was reduced to 21.57% as a result of declining their right to a fresh share offering. As a result, Mr. Nuttapol Chulangkul of Thailand became the airline's largest stakeholder, holding 23.77% of the business.

The name of the company had been changed to "Nok Airlines Company Limited" on account of the preparations for listing on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET)sixteen January 2006. Then, at the time of its maiden listing on the Thai stock market, it was given the new name "Nok Airlines Public Company Limited" (as of January 18 2013), with the trading symbol "NOK."
