About Lauda Europe

Lauda Europe is a Maltese airline owned by Ryanair Group. The airline was established in 2020 and was to become the successor company of the former Austrian airline Lauda (Laudamotion). The airline has an all-Airbus fleet, being the A320 variants that were transferred in ownership from the Austrian airline. Laude Europe operates as a wet lease airline for Ryanair as well as offering charter services for other third parties.

Although the airline was established in 2020 it has inherited a large part of its corporate identity from previous airline Lauda. The new Maltese airport has taken part of the name, branding and livery as well as the aircraft from the former Austrian airline.

Lauda Europe Class

Economy Class

Lauda Europe's aircraft feature an all Economy class layout with approximately 32 inches of legroom and a width of around 17". Economy travellers don't receive complimentary food and drink, however, these are available for purchase during the flight. This may be different if the airline is operating a charter flight for a company that may offer this. However, as it is expected that the operations will be on behalf of Ryanair, so it will follow their policy of charging.

Lauda Destinations

Lauda Europe currently operates both wet-lease and charter services for Ryanair and other partners. This means that the airline doesn't currently offer any scheduled flights. If you have booked a flight with Ryanair it may be operated by Lauda Europe, so the route map will be in conjunction with Ryanair. The airline plans in the coming years as the aviation sector bounces back from the COVID-19 pandemic to open more operating bases.

Hub Airport

Lauda Europe doesn't currently have a hub airport, however, they have based their operations in Pieta, Malta. The airline plans with the recovery post the COVID-19 pandemic to open multiple operating bases across Europe.

Check-In Information

Online and Mobile Check-in

This will depend on who the airline is operating on behalf. If Lauda Europe will be operating services for sister airline Ryanair then you will be able to check-in online or via the Ryanair app. Check-in online opens to all passengers 48 hours prior to departure and closes 2 hours before the scheduled departure time. If Lauda Europe is operating a flight for another airline then you may be able to check-in via their website. If this is not available then you will be able to do so at the airport.

Airport Check-in

If the airline is operating a route for Ryanair on one of their constituent airlines then checking in at the airline will incur an additional charge unless allowed for in your ticket. If Lauda Europe is operating a charter for another company they may allow free airport check-in or also charge so you should check the tour operators policies. If you have checked in online you will be able to drop your luggage at one of the check-in desks at the airport.

Baggage Allowance

Carry-on Baggage

As the airline operates as a charter and wet-lease airline the cabin baggage allowance depends on the company chartering their services. If you are travelling on a Ryanair flight operated by Lauda Europe then you are entitled to bring one small item of carry-on baggage as part of your ticket. This item of luggage should not be larger than 40 x 20 x 25 cm and must be stored under the seat in front of you. A small item of baggage can include a small backpack, briefcase, camera bag or handbag. Similarly, you may have the option to purchase 'Priority & 2 Cabin Bags', or a Plus/Flexi/Family ticket fare meaning you can additionally bring a cabin case weighing no more than 10kg bag as well as fitting within the 55 x 40 x 20cm allocations.

Checked Baggage

Like the airline's cabin baggage policy, dependent on which company has chartered the airline's services the checked baggage will vary. As the majority of flights operated by Lauda Europe will be on behalf of Ryanair then checked baggage will not be included in the base ticket fare and is something you will have to pay separately for.
