About Helvetic Airways
Helvetic Airways was founded in autumn 2003 as a rebranding of Odette Airways and an extension to the airline. It serves destinations in South-Eastern Europe. The first budget airline in Switzerland was established in November with a Fokker100 that flew to three destinations. The carrier introduced a new look to its aircraft in December 2006. All Fokker 100s now have red-white-silver gray livery with the Swiss cross at the tailfin. On February 18, 2013, eight men dressed in police uniforms and armed with automatic weapons seized 120 small parcels that contained an estimated $50,000,000 (PS32,000,000) of diamonds. The parcels were loaded with passengers who were preparing to depart for Zurich. Two vehicles were driven through the airport's perimeter fence, passing Flight LX789. It had been loaded with diamonds by a Brink's armored van. They were able to drive two vehicles through a hole they had cut in the airport's perimeter fence to Flight LX789, which had just been loaded with diamonds from an a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brink%27s" title="Brink's">Brink's armoured van. The last Helvetic Airways Fokker 100 was removed from the fleet on 14 June 2019. The carrier received its first Embraer E190E2 aircraft on 29 October 2019.
