The Kirkland Museum holds a large collection containing decorative arts from 1880-1980. There are many pieces from all major design periods, including Arts & Crafts and Pop Art. There are hundreds of works that document regional modernist art. This includes work from 1875 to 1980, with a focus on Colorado.
Vance Kirkland (1904-1981), Colorado’s most well-known painter, is the subject of a retrospective at the museum. The museum houses all three collections within the 1911 Arts & Crafts Building in Denver, which is Denver's oldest building for commercial art. Kirkland museum is a member of Historic Artists’ Homes and Studios. The National Trust for Historic Preservation manages this program.
