This community is known as TrackTown USA. It has been home to many notable sporting events, including five U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Track & Field. Eugene is home to many colleges, including Lane Community College and Bushnell University. They also have a number of bars that serve local microbrews. Eugene is known for its craft beer and can be found along the Eugene Ale Trail. The quality of Northwest regional cuisine is outstanding, from small farms to community gardens, to yogurt, cheese and chocolate companies. Every meal is enhanced by a glass of Oregon Pinot Noir.
This is the ancestral homeland of the Kalapuyan, who still live in the region today as members of Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde. This region was maintained by controlled burns which encouraged the growth and development of camas fields. Camas were a mainstay of this group's diet. In the spring, look out for the blue wildflowers in open meadows in the valley.

The Cascades Raptor Center is home to a variety of majestic feathered birds, including hawks, falcons, and an eagle. This non-profit organization provides care for injured birds and is open to the public all year. You can view a range of birds as well as get an idea of the rehabilitation process.
Eugene is only U.S. City to host three consecutive U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Track & Field (1972-76, 1980). It is also the home of the 2008 and 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Track & Field. Historic Hayward Field, a track and field facility that is renowned for its unique track and field events, is actually one of the most well-known in the world.
