About Buraq Air

Buraq Air, the first private airline in Libya, was established in November 2000. It began operations in November 2000 by dry-leasing two B727 200 aircrafts. The airline then started domestic passenger service between Tripoli, Benghazi and Tripoli. Buraq Air bought three B727-220 and two turboprop L410 planes in September 2002 to connect oil fields to major cities in Libya. By that time, international routes were added to the schedul service operations. In Istanbul, flights were also launched. Two B737-200s were purchased one year later.

A further expansion was made by operating scheduled flights from three additional dotic destinations, Labraq and Tobruk. Sebha also added two reginol destinations, Aleppo (Syria), and Rabat (Morocco) to the list. A cargo section was also established using Ilyushin 76 cargo planes that flew to various international airports, including Sharjah, Istanbul, Sharjah, Sharjah, Sharjah, Sharjah, and many African destinations

Buraq Air (El-Buraq Air Transport Inc.) is an airline whose headquarters are located at the Tripoli International Airport. It offers domestic and international scheduled services to Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Buraq also provides support flights for CHC, including passenger and cargo charter service and flights.

Bouraq Airlines was founded in 1970 by Jarry Albert Sumendap as a privately-owned company. It has remained in his family's possession ever since. It was named after al-Buraq (a Muslim tradition of a flying horse). Sumendap also owned Bali Air, which was in cooperation with Bouraq. The airline initially operated Douglas DC-3s.

All Buraq Air flight operations were halted as a result of the Libyan Civil War, and the no-fly zone that was imposed by NATO over the country in accordance to the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1973.
