British Airways Pet Policy

We understand that your pet is an important member of your family, and we are committed to providing you with a safe and comfortable travel experience. This Privacy Policy page is meant to inform you about our pet policy and the associated fees.

British Airways Pet Policy

At British Airways, we welcome pets to travel with their owners in the cabin or as checked baggage. We understand that pets are an important part of your life and we want to make their travel experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible. To ensure the safety of your pet, we have set certain guidelines that you need to follow.

Pets in Cabin

Only dogs and cats are allowed in the cabin. The pet must be at least 8 weeks old and have all the required vaccinations. The pet must remain in its carrier for the duration of the flight and the carrier must fit under the seat in front of you. The pet carrier dimensions should not exceed 45cm x 30cm x 25cm. Additionally, the total weight of the carrier and the pet should not exceed 6kg.

Checked Pets

If your pet is too large to fit in the cabin, you can transport it as checked baggage. We allow dogs, cats, rabbits, and household birds to travel as checked pets. The pet carrier dimensions should not exceed 75cm x 45cm x 40cm, and the total weight of the carrier and pet should not exceed 45kg. The pet must be at least 12 weeks old and have all the required vaccinations.

British Airways Pet Fee

We understand that you want to ensure the best possible travel experience for your pets. To cover the costs associated with transporting pets, British Airways has set a fee for transporting pets.

For pets travelling in the cabin, the pet fee is £70 per pet, per sector. A sector is defined as a single takeoff and landing. For example, if you are traveling from London to New York with a layover in Dublin, you will be charged a pet fee for each sector of the journey.

For pets traveling as checked baggage, the pet fee is £100 per pet, per sector. The fee includes the cost of the pet carrier.

Please note that pet fees are non-refundable and must be paid at the time of booking.

We understand the importance of protecting your personal information and want to assure you that we are committed to keeping your information secure.
