American Airlines opened new lounges, and retrofitting old planes quietly without much fanfare. However, United initially seemed to be more focused on marketing than actually putting the product in service.

Billboards and TV ads promised a new experience in flying long before the first Polaris lounge was opened. Many passengers who bought expensive tickets called "Polaris", ended up flying in older seats for the first few years.

United has made great strides since then, taking delivery of new planes with the Polaris cabin and retrofitting many more -- even during World War II.

Premier Access amenities make your United Business Passenger experience more enjoyable from the moment you enter the airport. For the fastest service, instead of waiting in long lines at check-in, you can go directly to the Premier Access line. You can check your bags and up to two standard bags for no extra charge.

Premier Access will speed you through security. You'll also have a faster lane for economy passengers. You will also receive a Group 1 boarding card and be the first to board.

You'll be able to get your bags faster if you deplane at the opposite end. Priority tags inform baggage handlers that you should place your luggage at the top of the line. Premier Access indicates that your bags should be among those who arrive at baggage claim.

United Business In-Flight Experience

Business class is far more luxurious than the back.

United's business class offers more comfortable and spacious seats. Leather chairs have electrical outlets and in-arm storage that can hold books or laptops. Flyers have access to a larger tray table that can hold drinks and food, as well as space for work or watching a movie.

Depending on the route, alcohol is included as well as premium snacks or meal service. United partners with select chefs to create special in-flight meals.

Book United Business Class

A premium booking on United can offer the best value for points and miles. You can either book with points or cash, or you can upgrade to United business.

Paid fares are the cheapest way to fly business class. You can pay for a United Business ticket. You can decide if it is worth it.
United MileagePlus Awards: If you have enough miles to your MileagePlus account you can log into United to Book an award flight United business class. A redemption will require more miles than an economy flight, but you'll often get the highest value per mile if you book in a premium service class.
United business upgrades: United MileagePlus members, some United card holders, and other regular United customers can upgrade to a United business seat. Because of their status, United elite members are eligible for free upgrades.

Rescheduling your United business class flight

Booking with United in any class of service, whether United business or economic, allows you to change your flight if necessary. United has stopped charging change fees on most premium cabin and economy tickets for domestic flights within the U.S. as of August 2020.

You can change your flight if it costs less but you won't get a refund. You might want an older flight, but your business class flight was booked. You can get an economy seat if it is not available in business class. However, you will still need to pay the full price of the business-class flight. You'll also have to pay an additional fee if the new flight is more costly than the one you originally booked.

United also allows you to join their standby list to get an earlier United flight the same day.

MileagePlus Premier members enjoy even greater flexibility. MileagePlus Premier members have the option to request a same day change without additional charges, rather than flying standby. The new flight must be:

Within 24 hours of the original flight.
Same origin, same destination.
The same class of fare.

You will have to pay for the difference if you change to a higher-priced flight class.
