MIRAMAR (Fla.), Nov. 19, 2020/PRNewswire/ -- Spirit Airlines(NYSE: SAVE_) has launched More Go to Colombia with two new cities joining its route map. The airline's yellow planes were a bright spot when they opened service to Bucaramanga, (BGA), and Barranquilla, (BAQ) on November 18. Both routes are nonstop at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, FLL.

Spirit's flight to Bucaramanga from Colombia's Santander Region is the only non-stop flight. Spirit now serves more cities in Colombia than any other U.S. carrier by adding Barranquilla and Bucaramanga to its network.

Spirit, an international airline, became the first to fly back to Colombia on Sept. 19, after six months of border closings. In addition to coordinating more than 170 flights between Colombian and American airlines, Spirit also helped more than 33,000 people reunite with loved ones and their families before the country was reopened.

Spirit has been chosen by more than 3.1 million guests to fly between Colombia and the United States over the past 12 year. In May 2008, the airline began service to Colombia with flights between Fort Lauderdale (CTG) and Cartagena (MDE). Spirit continued to expand over the next ten years with flights to Bogota, Medellin, MDE and Armenia (AXM), as well as Cali (CLO). Nonstop service was also offered by Spirit from Orlando (MCO), to Cartagena, Bogota, and Medellin.
