Spirit Airlines is widely regarded as one of the most affordable airlines. It's also a great experience and very economical. Spirit Airlines boasts an impressive network with more than 77 destinations, making it easy for customers to travel to the USA, Central America, and the Caribbean.

But what happens if your travel plans suddenly change and Spirit Airlines flight must be cancelled? These situations can happen when people travel. You can cancel your reservation and get a refund. If you are forced to cancel flights, there is no need to panic. If your tickets are eligible to be cancelled and given a refund, you won't lose any money. What is Spirit Airlines' Refund Policy?
Spirit Airlines does not offer refundable tickets. This budget airline offers low-priced tickets that are non-refundable. Customer must pay cancellation fees if he/she cancels tickets. Except in exceptional circumstances, it is nearly impossible to get a refund. Spirit Airlines will not refund a ticket if it is cancelled less than 24 hours after the original booking or if a passenger dies during or before the flight. Spirit Airlines 24-hour refund policy states that a customer who cancels a Spirit Airlines ticket within 24 hours of purchase will be refunded the full amount if the difference between departure and booking date is less than 7 days (168hrs) or greater. If the cancellation request is made after the expiry of the 24-hours free window, and less than 7 days before the scheduled departure, then a cancellation fee must be paid. After paying the cancellation fee, the balance amount will be credited back to the customer's account as a credit for future travel.
If the cancellation is due to death, the relatives of the deceased passenger must send a copy of the death certificate along with any supporting documentation via email to Spirit Airlines Guest Relations Department.
Spirit Airlines will also refund customers if they are not provided with a seat previously confirmed or an alternate route. If the customer has not used the reservation amount, then the airline will issue a full refund equal to the payment amount. If a portion of the reservation has been used by the customer, the refund will be equal to that portion.
Customers who have booked flights with Spirit Airlines for longer than two hours will receive a refund. Customer who cancels a Standard or Flex flight ticket will receive a Future Travel Credit. This credit can only be used by the same customer for new Spirit Airlines tickets.
Spirit Airlines Refund Process
Spirit Airlines offers several options for customers to request a refund.
Online refund through Spirit Airlines website: Customers can request a refund after cancellation online by visiting the official website of Spirit Airlines. You can do this by clicking the "Submit Ticket" tab on the Help page. The customer must fill out the required information. This includes the reason for the request. Once the customer has completed the information, he or she must click the "Submit" button to submit it. A ticket will then be created for the refund process. Refund by Phone: The airline offers the option of getting a refund by phone if the customer is unable to visit the official website of Spirit Airlines. To use this option, the customer must call Spirit Airlines' refund phone number to request a refund. If you are eligible, they will consider it. You can request a refund over the phone any time you like.
Customer can request a refund via email to Spirit Airlines. In the email to Spirit Airlines, the customer must include details about cancellation and reasons for requesting a refund. If the customer is eligible, the airline will reply to the email.

Spirit Airlines refunds COVID-19
Spirit Airlines has also developed new policies regarding cancellations and refunds due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The new Spirit Airlines refund policy will apply to customers who book flights before 31 March 2021. Customers will not have to pay cancellation or change fees. Visit Spirit Airlines' official website and click "My Trips". To cancel or change the flight, the customer will need to enter his/her name and confirm number. If the customer decides to cancel the flight, he/she will receive a full refund in the form of a reservation credit. The Future Travel Credit can be used by the customer to book a Spirit Airlines flight for travel dates between 6 and 9 months from now (depending on the route).
Spirit Safe Travels is a combination of cleaning, air filtration and face covering that makes flying safer in the post-COVID period. To ensure safety and health, Spirit Airlines asks that all customers acknowledge and agree to the following before they check in:
- The customer must cover their nose and mouth with a face-covering. This will be placed under the chin, and it will stay on throughout the flight. Children under 2 years of age are not allowed to wear a mask or face-covering.
- Refusing to use a mask or facial covering will result in a violation to federal law. You will not be allowed to board the plane, will be removed from it, will be subject to penalties and/or lose future flight privileges with Spirit Airlines.
- Neither the customer nor any member of his/her household have shown COVID-19-related symptoms, as defined by CDC, during the past 14 days. These include a temperature of 38C/100.4F or greater, muscle pain, chills or loss of taste or scent, sore throat and shortness of breath/difficulty in breathing.
- In the last 14 days, neither the customer nor anyone else in the household have tested positive for COVID-19 or been in close contact with anyone who has.
