What are the limits on bag size and weight?

We charge extra for checked and carry-on bags to keep ticket prices affordable for all. For checked bags weighing more than 40 lbs, we charge more. Because of the extra weight, more fuel is required to transport the bag. A small personal item, such as a bag, backpack, or purse, that can fit completely in the smaller box is your passport. Your ticket includes your personal item. You will need to pay for any personal items or larger items, such as a standard carry-on bag or checked bag.

Checked bags: Maximum of 60 inches (length + width + length; 158cm), including handles and wheels, and maximum weight of 40 lbs (18.1 kg). Bags exceeding these dimensions or weight limits will be subject to a charge. We cannot accept bags over 100 lbs (45 kg) and larger than 80 linear ins (203 cm) overall.

Does Spirit include a checked bag?

Spirit $9 Fare Club membership is my favourite way to save money on Spirit checked baggage. This premium membership is a great way to save money on Spirit baggage. It is a yearly subscription that costs as little as $70 and allows passengers to save $10 per bag. This means that if you plan to take three bags, you can save as much as $30 with the $9 fare club. This means that you can get the subscription fee back on your two or three flights in which you have to take 3-4 bags.

Spirit Airlines Baggage Rules-Checked Baggage

According to Spirit Airlines' baggage rules, your route, payment method, and membership status will determine your baggage fees. Spirit Airlines' baggage policy requires that all passengers pay a bag fee. This excludes those who have purchased a Bundle It/Boost It combination or Free Spirit members with a gold status.

The baggage fee can be paid at check-in (free), at the time you buy your ticket (cheapest), and at the airport kiosk/check-in counter (costliest).

Baggage Size Weight Requirements

• Baggage size requirements. The combined dimensions of a checked bag (Length + Width + Height) should not exceed 158cm/62in. Bags that are larger than this will be charged a fee. Bags greater than 203cm/80in will not be accepted, except for mobility aids and musical instruments.

• Baggage weight limits Baggage fees for bags that exceed these limits will be charged. Bags weighing more than 100lb/45kg (50lb/23kg Peru) will not be accepted.

• Spirit Airlines baggage rules require identification tag to remain outside all bags. A tag should be placed inside your bag. You can save time by checking in online to purchase your baggage allowance.

• Maximum number checked bags per passenger: 5. This can vary depending on the route.

Spirit Airlines Baggage Allowance-Checked Baggage

Customers who are not on a Bare Fare must purchase a Spirit Airlines baggage allowance. Spirit Airlines does not offer a checked baggage allowance to passengers traveling on basic or Bare Fares. One free checked bag can be claimed by passengers who are members of Bundle It or Boost It status.
