Frontier Airlines eliminates telephone customer service
You can say goodbye to the airline phone center. Frontier Airlines .Last weekend, the budget carrier completed its transition to online and mobile support. This allows it to ensure customers receive "the information they require as expeditiously as possible," Jennifer de la Cruz, spokeswoman for CNBC, stated in an emailed statement.
Frontier now offers a customer service number that allows passengers to call and get the following message: "At Frontier we offer the lowest airfares in the industry by operating the airline as efficiently as possible." Flyfrontier.com and our mobile app make it easy for customers to search for what they need. We want them to be able operate efficiently too.
People who wish to send a text message to the carrier can request a link sent to their phones. Major carriers still provide customer service lines. Frontier charges fees for everything, including advanced seat assignments, carry-on luggage, snacks, and other services. Frontier is always looking to cut costs. Frontier suggested that it would no longer offer customer service via phone during its investor day earlier in the month. This was a change reported by Travel Noire earlier in this week.
Frontier's senior vice-president of customers Jack Filene stated during the Nov. 15 investor presentation, that the change would lower labour costs and speed transactions.
Filene stated that while we support higher labour rates for the voice channel, we are limited to one-on-one interactions. He said that a chat agent could handle three queries at once and perhaps more.
Think about the most obscure question that a customer could ask. It would take a call centre agent many, many hours to research and find an answer. He said that the chatbot could answer this question quickly.
Frontier made $31 million on $906 million in operating revenue during the quarter. $182 million was spent on labour costs. This is its second-biggest expense, after jet fuel. It has nearly 70% more than the same period in 2019.
Frontier's new direction comes after long wait times on customer service lines annoy travelers. Many also experienced a spike in cancellations and delays this summer, which was exacerbated by labour shortages.
Executives at have increased staff and launched more channels that allow customers to make changes to their flights or communicate via text.
Frontier is not the only one to forgo a call centre. Breeze Airways, the U.S. carrier that was launched by JetBlue David Neeleman, founder, offers customer service via text, email, or messenger. Breeze spokesperson Gareth Edmondson Jones stated that the average guest request can be completed in 15-20 minutes using online options.
