What is Frontier Airlines' baggage policy for passengers?

 

Knowing Frontier Airlines' baggage policy is a good idea to avoid any surprises at the airport. To find out how much your bag will be, use Frontier’s price check tool.

 

Carry-on luggage

 

One personal item is permitted per passenger. Your personal item may not exceed 14 inches by 18 inches by 8 inches (height, width, and depth). The item must be placed underneath your seat.

Your airfare does not include carry-on luggage. Many Frontier travelers will need to pay an extra $60-$89 for a carry-on bag. You can store these bags under the seat or in the overhead bin. You can carry up to 35 pounds and must not exceed 24 inches by 16 inches by 10 inches. This includes the handles and wheels of the bag.

Diaper bags and personal items are welcome on board for anyone travelling with an infant. However, strollers and car seat will need to be checked at the gate. As long as they comply with the weight and size requirements, coats, prayer mats and other medical aide devices are allowed onboard free of charge.

Transportation Security Administration (TSA), guidelines must be followed for all items in your carry-on luggage. You are not allowed to bring weapons or any other items that could be used to hurt others. The 3-1-1 liquids rule must be followed by any liquids.

Frontier Airlines hand baggage must be 10 inches in size (16 inches x 24 inches) or 25cmx40.6cmx61cm.

Cabin baggage must not weigh more than 15.8kgs (or 35lbs).

All passengers who purchased a WORKS fare option ticket or are Early Returns(r), Elite members will be entitled to a free carry-on bag

Besides, you are also allowed to bring a personal item of dimensions 14 inches x 18 inches x 8 inches (35.5cmx45.72cmx20.32cm). Personal items include purses, briefcases and small backpacks.

 

Carryon Baggage: Carry on Bags cannot be larger than 24 inches tall, 10 inches wide and 16 inches long, including handles, wheels and straps, and must not weigh more than 35 pounds. You can place carry-on bags under the seat or in the overhead compartment. You can think large backpacks, small duffel bags, and small suitcases/wheeled bag!

 

How to reduce or avoid Frontier Airlines baggage fees

 

There are many ways to lower or avoid Frontier Airlines baggage fees. Here's how.

 

1. You should only pack one personal item

 

This is the best way to avoid additional baggage fees. Frontier does not allow carry-on luggage so you should only bring your personal items. A medium-sized backpack will likely hold enough clothes for you if you are only traveling for a few nights. You can maximize the space in your bag so that you don't have to carry any extra baggage.

Consider buying toiletries items at your destination, or renting laundry facilities while you are away.

 

2. Book your baggage and pay for it during the booking

 

It's best to pay baggage fees at the time of booking. You have more time to plan your packing and baggage pricing will be at their lowest. Baggage fees increase once you make your final purchase. If you decide to change your mind, you could end up paying more than $20 per bag.

3. Get a special menu

 

A specialty fare will save you the most money on baggage and other perks. Frontier Airlines refers to its specialty fares as "the WORKS", and "the PERKS" bundles. These options can only be used for round-trip flights and include one carry-on bag and one checked bag per passenger.

These bundles are available for bags only if you do not have excess baggage or overweight fees at check-in. You can save up to $100 depending on where you fly and how much baggage.

If you are confident that you can carry only one or two bags, you may need to purchase a special fare. While you can choose your seat and not purchase a bundle, it may be more expensive to do so if you don’t really need the carry-on or checked bag. Check all options when you book your flight to find the best price.

You can earn more miles by applying for the Frontier Airlines World MasterCard (r). to get free bags and other travel rewards. Flyfrontier.com purchases can bring you 5X miles, 3X miles for restaurant purchases, and 1X mile on all other purchases. Cardholders can also earn $100 flight vouchers if they meet certain conditions on every account anniversary.

 

5. Your military documentation

 

Active-duty military personnel are required to show their military ID when they check in. Frontier Airlines baggage fees for active duty, reserve and national guard personnel are waived. You can bring one bag with you and two bags with you to Frontier Airlines.

It gets even better: Oversize and overweight fees are not applicable to the first two bags that are checked.

 

6. A travel rewards card gives you airline fee credits and other perks

 

You can also use perks on Frontier Airlines flights with many other travel credit cards. Chase Sapphire Preferred (r), Card is one example. Although it won't get you a bag for free, you can still earn a generous welcome bonus worth 60,000 points if you spend $4,000 within the first three months. Chase Ultimate Rewards will pay $750 for travel. That's a lot of bags!

To be allowed to take your carry-on bag on board a plane, it must weigh less than 35 pounds. You should not exceed 24"x10"x16" including wheels.

 

Frontier charges how much for carry-on bags

 

You pay for your baggage when you travel and the route. The fees for carry-on bags vary. The cheapest price for a carry-on bag will be displayed at the time you book. You can also find the cost of baggage by entering your confirmation number and last name into the baggage price checker, or logging in to manage the booking. You can also view estimates for routes that you haven’t booked yet.

Bag prices go up the longer you delay paying. A flight from Newark to Los Angeles would cost $38, if paid at check-in. There is also a $42 fee for carry-on bags if paid at the ticket counter. Or, you can pay $60 at the gate. These fees apply to both directions.
