Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport
The largest airport in Bangladesh is Hazrat Shahjalal International (DAC). It is maintained and operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Air Force also uses it. It is located 17km from the city center in Kurmitola, northern Dhaka. In 1980, Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport was established. It replaced Tejgaon Airport as the country's only international airport. It is the hub for all Bangladeshi airlines including Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Regent Airways. Biman Bangladesh has also a secondary hub airport at Shah Amanat International airport. It is the second-largest airport in Bangladesh, after Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Chittagong. Shah Amanat International Airport can accommodate 1.5 million passengers and 6,000 tonnes cargo annually.

Biman Bangladesh allows passengers to check 30kg of baggage in Business Class, 20kg in Economy Class, and 10kg in Infants Class.
Business Class allows only two pieces per 30kg. Each piece must not exceed 62 inches in length or 158 cm in breadth. A single piece of baggage cannot exceed 30kg in weight.
Economy Class passengers are limited to two bags per 20kg.

Each passenger has the right to carry one piece of baggage. This can be a handbag, or a laptop. The maximum weight for Economy Class is 7kg and Business Class is 10kg. The sum of all 3 dimensions (length, width, and height) must not exceed 115cm

Biman Airlines allows pets such as dogs, cats, house birds, rabbits and canaries to travel as checked baggage. Extra baggage fees will apply depending on how heavy the animal is combined with its carrier. The excess baggage fee is usually between $100 and 225.

Proper ventilation and escape proof are essential for all carriers.
