Avianca S.A. (acronym in Spanish for Aerovias del Continente Americano S.A., "Airways of the American Continent") is a Colombian airline. It has been the flag carrier of Colombia since December 5, 1919, when it was initially registered under the name SCADTA.[5][6] It is headquartered in Colombia, with its registered office in Barranquilla and its global headquarters in Bogotá and main hub at El Dorado International Airport. Avianca is the flagship of a group of ten Latin American airlines, whose operations are combined to function as one airline using a codesharing system. Avianca is the largest airline in Colombia and second largest in Latin America, after LATAM of Chile. Avianca and its subsidiaries have the most extensive network of destinations in Latin America.

Baggage policy and Fees
Baggage between 70 pounds (32 kilos) and 100 pounds (45 kilos) will be charged USD $160 per bag. In 2nd bag: Baggage less than 50 pounds (23 kilos) will be charged USD $40 per bag. Baggage between 50 pounds (23 kilos) and 70 pounds (32 kilos) will be charged USD $100 per bag.
Pet policies
Pets in the Cabin
Pets can travel in the cabin with Avianca if they don't exceed 18 lbs (8 kg), not including their carrier. The maximum height of animals must be under 8" H (20 cm). Each passenger may only travel with 1 carrier in addition to their regular carry-on luggage. Pets must remain inside their carriers for the duration of the journey. The fee for this service varies depending on your travel. Flights within Colombia incur a charge of 60.000 COP; within Ecuador incur a charge of $20; within Peru incur a charge of $20; within Honduras and Guatemala incur a charge of $20; the rest of Central America incur a charge of $125; from/to the United States and Canada incur a charge of $125; and all other international routes incur a charge of $125.
Refund and Cancellation Policy
100% refund of the fee. When you book and purchase a ticket at any sales office, call center or through Avianca.com United States, you can cancel the purchase of your reservation without penalty. Conditions: Cancellation must be requested within 24 hours of purchase.
