About Air British
British Airways (BA), is the flag carrier airline in the United Kingdom. It is located in London, England near Heathrow Airport. The airline is second in the UK in terms of passenger carried and fleet size. BA and Iberia merged in January 2011, creating the International Airlines Group (IAG), which is a holding company based in Madrid, Spain.
IAG is the third-largest carrier group in terms of yearly income worldwide and the second-largest in Europe. It can be found on the London Stock Exchange as well as in the FTSE 100 Index. English Airways is the main traveler carrier that has created more than US$1Billion in single flights per year (from the 1 April 2017 to the 31 March 2018 on the New York–JFK – London-Heathrow route). British Airways was established in 1974 by the British government. It was created to manage the two nationalized carriers, British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) and British European Airways. The board also handles two territorial aircrafts, Cambrian Airways or Northeast Airlines.
Each of the four organizations merged to form British Airways on 31 March 1974. It did however consider 2019 its century, in light of the ancestor businesses. BA, which had been a state-owned organization for nearly 13 years, was privatized by the Conservative government in February 1987 as part of a larger privatization plan. British Caledonian was purchased in 1987, Dan-Air 1992, and British Midland International 2012. It was a founding member in the Oneworld carrier union along with American Airlines, Cathay Pacific and Qantas as well as the now-defunct Canadian Airlines. Since then, the union has grown to become the third-largest after SkyTeam or Star Alliance.
